Fill in Route Details
Route information tells us about the movement of your shipment – from
where your shipment starts, to its final destination and any necessary
exchanges with other railroads in between. This includes details like
junctions, interchange carriers and switch roads.
Select rail origin/destination city and state
To provide a valid City and State, either
type in a valid city name and select the corresponding state, OR
Use the ‘Find City/State’ link to quickly
select a valid city/state combination.

(The Rail Origin is the city and state where your rail shipment begins.
The Rail Destination is the city and state where a rail movement is completed.)
Complete railroad and junction details
Railroads and junctions must be listed
in the order they occur on the route.
Select origin railroad
The origin railroad is required. This
is the railroad on which your shipment begins (after any origin switch
road handling). If your shipment is moving exclusively with the origin
railroad all the way to destination, that’s the only railroad you need
to specify.
To select the origin railroad, either type the railroad initials, OR
Use the ‘Find Origin Railroad’ link
quickly select valid initials.

Select the junction
A junction is an interchange point where
two railroads exchange a shipment. If your shipment will be handed over
to another railroad to complete its journey, specify the junction code
for the city where the exchange takes place. Junction details can be found
in your rail contract or in the public
price tariff.
To select the junction, either type in the junction code, OR
use the ‘Find Junction’ link
to select the valid code for a junction city.
Continue adding railroad and junction details
Add the railroad your shipment will
be handed over to in the next railroad field. Continue to fill in route
segments, ending with a railroad. If there are more than 3 segments in
your route, click the ‘Add more railroads and junctions’ link to add more
fields.
Select origin/delivery switch railroads
An origin switch railroad picks up a
car from a customer facility and takes it to the origin railroad yard.
A delivery switch railroad takes a rail car from the destination railroad
yard to a receiver’s facility.
To specify a valid switch railroad, either type the switch railroad
initials, OR

use the ‘Find Switch Road’
link to quickly select a valid switch road.
