Find Commodity Code

Search for the valid STCC code for your commodity. A commodity code, or STCC (Standard Transportation Commodity Code), is a 7-digit number that identifies exactly which commodity you’re shipping. STCCs are standard across the railroad industry.

Find a valid commodity code
Type 3 or more letters of a commodity name or 3 or more numbers of a STCC in the ‘Search For’ field, OR
Choose a commodity category from the ‘Select a Category’ drop-down menu,
Then click the 'GO' button.

View search results and select a STCC
The page will refresh, bringing back Search Results containing Commodity Codes and Descriptions. Review the descriptions to find the commodity you’re shipping. Click on a STCC to apply it to your shipping instructions and return to the Shipping Instructions form.
