Fill in Equipment, Weights & Seals

Use this section to add cars, weights and seals to your shipping instructions.

Moving unit trains or automobiles?
If you are moving a unit train, click Go to Unit Train Equipment & Weights.  
If you are moving automobiles, click Auto Shipment Cars & VINs.

To add equipment
Click ‘Select from Your Inventory’ to select from a list of rail cars at your facility,

OR

 

Type the equipment initial

& number for each piece

of equipment moving in the

shipment.

 

To add more than 3 cars to a shipment, click Add more equipment.

  

View the number of cars you have entered
After you go to another page and then come back to this page, the yellow bar on top of the Equipment, Weights and Seals box shows the number of cars you have entered.

 

To add weights
Select the Weight Unit (unit of measurement) and the Weight Type.
Type the weight for each piece of equipment.
  

Tip: If you have the actual net weight, that's all you need to enter.

If your Weigh Method is destination agreement, then you are not required to enter weights.

 

(Net weight is the weight of the commodity being shipped, which is the difference between the gross and tare weights. Gross weight is the sum of the weights of the commodity, packaging and rail car.)

 

To include Tare, Allowance or Pallet/Dunnage weights, click the ‘Add weight details’ link.

 

To add seals
Type the seal number in the box provided. You can enter up to 20 seals per piece of equipment. Each seal must be on a separate line, so press the 'Enter' key after each seal number is entered.

 

Specify "waybill instructions"
One waybill is created from shipping instructions. If there are 2 or more rail cars in shipping instructions, a shipper may choose to have separate waybills created for each car in the shipment.
