Grain customers that use their own private cars or have CSXT cars that are temporarily dedicated to them can use the Track Car Sets function to keep track of them. Unlike the twice daily Grain Desk email, this tool is continually updated as CSX receives location updates.
The Track Car Sets tool for grain unit trains is accessed by clicking on ‘Track Car Sets’ in the gray task bar at the top of the Unit Train Management tool.

You are presented with a list of all the sets of cars CSX manages for you. The sets are listed in set order, with your active sets first, then those that we know are offline, out of service or stored.

To get more detail about the activity of any one set, simple click on the ‘>’ to the left of any set (1) to expand it. To expand the information on all your sets, use the ‘Expand All’ function (1) above the ‘Set’ column.

Doing so will give you information about the set’s last move and identify the train’s crew call information. The set (1), train (2), size (3), and order # (4) links open new screens with details on those subjects. Clicking on the location link (5) opens a map identifying where that last move took place.
